The red wines produced by Micu Narunsky Wines are made from Portuguese grape varieties Touriga Nacional and Tinta Barroca, with an additional percentage of SouzaƵ and Tinta Roriz (Tempranillo).

These varieties commonly used for the making of Port in Portugal and Port style wine in other countries (including South Africa) are vinified as dry red wines. They are very suitable for South African soils and are well adapted to sunshine and heat. They tend to ripen relatively early in the harvest season and are therefore phenolically ripe at harvest time, without being overripe.

Grapes are sourced from the Swartland and Stellenbosch regions, resulting in complex wines that express the sensuality of Swartland terrior combined with the complexity and richness characterising Stellenbosch soils and climate.


The wines are hand made with minimal intervention, and traditional winemaking methods are applied. They are aged in French oak barrels for approximately 18 months. Very small quantities are produced.
